Nick watches, lounging back on the bed, one arm behind his head as I slide out his embrace and return with my Advent calendar, wiggling it in the air like a magician displaying their next trick before I punch through the door marked Dickmas. Retrieving the condom, I hold it up between two fingers with a look of triumph.
“Ta da!” I announce when Nick simply stares at me.
“Did you just procure a condom from an Advent Calendar?” he asks, his voice a little incredulous.
