Friday’s Page 69 ~ Things That go Bump by Kathryn Foxfield, Robin Boyden
The hole leads through into darkness. I use my torch to check out our surroundings. We’re in a long narrow passageway that run behind the sets. To my right, there’s a flimsy partition separating us from the showroom. To my left, I can reach out and touch the bare metal of the building’s outer wall.
It feels like we’ve found a pocket of dead space hidden behind the cosiness of all the fake living rooms. There’s nothing her except some discarded plastic wrap and a few tatty cardboard boxes. Lots of dust. I don’t think anyone’s been down here for a very long time.
