Once we’d sung at all the people in Chipping Bottom who were willing to open their doors to us, we headed home. I was ready for a bit of a sit-down, but, true to her word, Mum made us bake some mince pies and Christmas biscuits for the tree. I hadn’t been that excited, but it was actually kind of fun. Sure, they were a little misshapen and I didn’t get to drizzle the icing on the top because Molly had drunk most of it when Mum wasn’t looking, but we’d made them together and Mum said that made them taste better.
